The next Star Wars animated series has been officially revealed, and it confirms a rumor we heard just a brief time ago. Last month our friends at Kessel Run Transmissions reported that the Bad Batch would be getting their own spin-off series. Now Lucasfilm is making it official!
During the seventh and final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars we were introduced Clone Force 99, and elite squad of Clone troopers with unique mutations that made them famously known as "The Bad Batch." The original team consisted Hunter, Crosshair, Tech and Wrecker, and they would later be joined by former Arc Trooper Echo. All of the Clones were voiced by the legendary Dee Bradley Baker, whom we can assume will return in this new series. Star Wars: The Bad Batch will follow the Bad Batch in the immediate aftermath of the Clone Wars as they struggle to find their place in the galaxy and even take on mercenary jobs to survive.
In a statement about the announcement, Agnes Chu, senior vice president, Content, Disney+, said:
“Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been our honor at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series. While The Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning. We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life through the next adventures of the Bad Batch.”
The creative team behind Star Wars: The Bad Batch includes:
- Executive producer - Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
- Executive producer - Athena Portillo (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels)
- Supervising director & executive producer - Brad Rau (Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars Resistance)
- Head writer & executive producer - Jennifer Corbett (Star Wars Resistance, NCIS)
- Co-executive producer - Carrie Beck (The Mandalorian, Star Wars Rebels)
- Producer - Josh Rimes (Star Wars Resistance)
Star Wars: The Bad Batch is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2021!
