Report: Stellan Skarsgård & Kyle Soller In Talks To Join The Cassian Andor Series

By: Benjamin Hart

With the threat of a pandemic looming over us it seems everything in the entertainment industry is in limbo for the time being. This is especially true for the Cassian Andor series which is slated to debut on Disney+, but official updates concerning its development have been few and far between.

Thankfully Variety has just dropped an interesting nugget of information that is sure to get fans excited. Earlier this afternoon they reported that actors Stellan Skarsgård and Kyle Soller are in "final negotiations" to join the cast of the series, which is a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. So far the only confirmed cast members for the series are Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk, who will be reprising their roles as Cassian Andor and K-2SO, respectively.

Stellan Skarsgård is fresh from starring in the HBO series Chernobyl, which earned him an Emmy nomination, but fans will also recognize him from a variety of other roles in such films as Good Will Hunting(1997), Amistad(1997), the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, and several films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kyle Soller is a relative newcomer with roles in such series as 101 Dalmation Street, the HBO film Brexit, and Fury(2014).

Variety has previously reported that Tony Gilroy, who had had a heavy hand in completing Rogue One, had joined the Cassian Andor series to to write and direct episodes. Stephen Schiff will serve as showrunner for the series which was originally slated for release on Disney+ in 2021, although that has likely been pushed back.
