Max von Sydow | 1929 - 2020

Today we are saddened to report the loss of a legendary actor, and a pivotal part of the Star Wars saga. Max Von Sydow, who is perhaps best know to Star Wars fans as Lor San Tekka in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has passed away at the age of 90.

The Swedish actor had a long and vibrant career that can be traced all the way back to the 1940's. He had numerous roles in TV and film, and was well known for his roles in such films as The Greatest Story Ever Told(1965), The Exorcist(1973), and Flash Gordon(1980). More recently he portrayed the the Three Eyed Raven in season six of Game Of Thrones.

But to Star Wars fans Max Von Sydow will forever be immortalized in the opening scenes of Episode VII: The Force Awakens where he plays the mysterious and endearing Lor San Tekka. His portrayal of the character left a lasting impression on the Star Wars universe, and the character would go on to appear in various other stories, including the recent Rise Of Kylo Ren comic series.

Our most sincere condolences go out to the family, friends and colleagues of Max Von Sydow. The Force will indeed be with him... always.
