Pedro Pascal Reveals The Mandalorian's Real Name

By: Dominic Jones

There's no denying that the new Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, is going for an old-west vibe, calling back to classic films like The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly.  So much so that, as far as most of the promotion is concerned, the titular character literally has no name (everyone just calls him The Mandalorian).  However, in a newly released interview with ScreenSlam, the series' star Pedro Pascal, who plays The Mandalorian, revealed the character's real name.

You can see Pascal make the reveal (very nonchalantly, suggesting that either someone forgot to tell him not to say it, he forgot he wasn't supposed to say it, or this interview wasn't supposed to be released yet) in the video below,

The Mandalorian's name is Din Jarrin (the exact spelling still needs to be confirmed).

So that's the name that Ming-Na Wen's character Fennec Shand says, "will be legendary" in one of the TV spots.  It's a good name (and not just because it's very similar to a friend of mine's name), hopefully the character will live up to it.  And, based on the first episode, he will.

The Mandalorian is set following the events of Return of the Jedi and follows the adventures of a "lone gunfighter", as he navigates the galaxy in the post-Empire/early days of the New Republic.  The first episode of the series is available now on Disney+, with episode two being released on Friday. You can check out the trailer for the series below,

The series debuts on November 12th on Disney+, and stars Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian, Gina Carrano as Cara Dune, Carl Weathers as Greef Carga, and Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, as well as Nick Nolte, Werner Herzog, Emily Swallow, and Omid Abtahi in unknown roles.  The Mandalorian is executive produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, with episodes directed by Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa, and Taika Waititi.
