Report: Kylo Ren Novel In The Works

By: Dominic Jones

With the sequel trilogy coming to an end later this year with the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters, it looks like the stories of some of the principle characters will be having their stories expanded upon in literary form.  An Australian book listing for Deliliah S. Dawson's upcoming novel Black Spire (a tie-in with the upcoming theme park expansion Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge), appears to have accidentally included text previewing a still unannounced novel about Kylo Ren.  Check it out for yourself below,

The preview says,
"CONFIDENTIAL AND UNANNOUNCED A stand-alone Star Wars title delving into the character of one of the biggest names in the Star Wars universe: Kylo Ren.

Kylo Ren is a relatively new character in the Star Wars universe, first making his appearance in The Force Awakens and played by Adam Driver. With a complicated origin story, this book hopes to look deeper into Kylo Ren's past and reveal more of the mystery's behind the mask."

This listing was first discovered by Twitter user @thiscaringlark,
Obviously, the description doesn't match the synopsis for Black Spire at all, so this is in all likelihood an error.  But, seeing as they had that description ready to go, it seems we will be seeing a Kylo Ren novel sooner rather than later.  Which begs the questions of what this Kylo novel is, who it's written by, and when it will be released?  And, does this have anything to do with the mysterious "Project Luminous" that was teased at Celebration?

Kylo's backstory has been sketched out by the sequel trilogy (as Ben Solo, he trained to be a Jedi with Luke, but somewhere along the way he connected with Snoke who lured him towards the dark side.  All of which leading to the moment we saw in The Last Jedi where Luke considered preemptively stopping Ben's fall, an act which cemented his newphew's dark fate).  That said, there is a lot of room left for further exploration of his turn to the dark side, which this novel will likely address.
