It's that time again! In a long standing tradition that began with the Prequel Trilogy over 2 decades ago, Vanity Fair has revealed a new magazine issue that will focus on the newest Star Wars film. In the past legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz has visited the set of Star Wars to give us glorious behind the scenes photos from The Phantom Menace, Attack Of The Clones, Revenge Of The Sith, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and now The Rise Of Skywalker.
Along with two covers featuring Kylo Ren and Rey(that connect, as you can see above), Vanity Fair has unveiled a full spread article spread with photos that can be viewed on their site now. Among the big takeaways from the article is the confirmation of the return of the Knights Of Ren in Episode IX, as well as the reveal of Keri Russell's character Zorri Bliss and Allegiant General Pryde, played by Richard E. Grant. In addition, we also learn that the desert planet seen in The Rise Of Skywalker teaser, as well as many of these new photos, is named Pasaana. Another planet featured in Episode IX will be the snowy world of Kijimi.
(And, honestly, this article is massive and it will take some time to unpack. Be sure to keep it here at The Star Wars Underworld as we continue to dive deep into all of it. And, of course, listen to the upcoming SWU Podcast for a full breakdown of all that's been revealed.)
Included with the article we get this great behind the scenes video featuring Annie Leibovitz on set in Jordan with J.J. Abrams and the cast:
And about those aforementioned photos, you can see just some of them below, and the rest over at Vanity Fair:
