BREAKING: "Galaxy's Edge" To Open May 31st In California, August 29th In Florida

By: Dominic Jones

At long last, Disney has announced the opening dates for the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, the upcoming theme park expansion coming to Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida. The park will open at Disneyland first, with May 31st being opening day in California, while the park will open a little later at Disney World, with August 29th being the big day in Florida.  A new video announcing the opening was released, which you can check out below,

For fans wanting to be among the first to go to Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland (between May 31st and June 23rd), you will need to make a "no-cost reservation" (in addition to your full priced park admission). The Disney World park will not require a reservation (though capacity will be limited) and will be open during "Extra Magic Hours".

In addition, Disney revealed that the Rise of the Resistance ride will not be open at launch, and will be rolled out later as part of "Phase Two".  Fortunately, the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run ride will be open at launch, as will Oga's Cantina.  No launch date has been given for Rise of the Resistance has been set as of yet.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is slated to open first at Disneyland in Anaheim, California in June (according to Disney CEO Bob Iger), and then at Disney World in Orlando, Florida in the Fall.  The park was first announced back at D23 in August 2015, and construction began in April 2016.  Now, almost four years later, it's finally (almost) time for Star Wars fans to live out their dreams and step into the galaxy far, far away (or, at least, come as close as possible here on Earth).
