Report: Police Investigating "Grand Theft" From The Set Of 'The Mandalorian'

By: Dominic Jones

An investigation is underway into an unfortunate development on the set of the upcoming live action series Star Wars: The MandalorianThe Hollywood Reporter is reporting that police are investigating a "Grand Theft" from the studio where The Mandalorian is currently being produced, and it's been reported that equipment from the set of The Mandalorian was taken.  The theft was first reported around 11 am today.  According to The Hollywood Reporter,

"Authorities were unable to confirm what was taken in the grand theft. A source with knowledge of the situation said items from the set of Lucasfilm's Star Wars television show The Mandalorian were taken, but nothing of substance. A spokeswoman for Lucasfilm declined to comment."

While THR's sources indicate that "nothing of substance" was taken, another report from The Blast says that, "the buzz among the crew is that the stolen equipment was from the camera department, and production is extremely worried a memory card containing sensitive information may have been jeopardized."

Now, I'm inclined to believe The Hollywood Reporter over The Blast, however with a production as big and as secretive as Star Wars there is always the concern that something containing spoilers may have been taken.  Hopefully whatever was taken is recovered and no significant damage was done to the production.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is a live action series written and produced by Jon Favreau, that will be released next year on the upcoming Disney streaming service.  Episodes will be directed by Dave Filoni, Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, and Deborah Chow.
