Dominic Monaghan Joins The Cast Of 'Star Wars Episode IX'

 By: Dominic Jones

Another newcomer to the galaxy far, far away in Star Wars Episode IX has been revealed!  Deadline is reporting that Dominic Monaghan has been cast in an undisclosed role in the upcoming film.  Monaghan is best known for his role in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and had previously worked with Episode IX director JJ Abrams on the TV series Lost.  In a statement to Deadline, Monaghan said, "The galaxy far far away has had almost as much influence as the one I live in, so I am delighted to be involved."

Monaghan joins fellow newcomers Richar E. Grant, Keri Russell, and Naomi Ackie, as well as returning stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Mark Hamill in the film which is currently shooting in England.  Production on the film just began at the beginning of the month and is expected to continue until early next year.

Monaghan had teased his involvement with Star Wars on social media, posting a cryptic picture featuring a quote from Obi-Wan Kenobi to his Instagram.  He followed that up today with a screenshot of the Deadline headline, with the caption, "Boom! Told ya."
