Rumor: 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' Coming to Blu-ray September 25th

By: Dominic Jones

It looks like fans will be able to bring home Solo: A Star Wars Story on blu-ray and DVD exactly four months after it debuted in theaters.  The Digital Bits is reporting that Lucasfilm and Disney have set September 25th as the release date for the film's blu-ray and DVD release, according to their retail sources.  No word yet on when the film will be available for digital download, however, based on The Last Jedi and Rogue One's releases, it seems safe to assume it will be available for download 2-3 weeks before that.

A couple of weeks ago Target posted the listing for their exclusive edition of the film's home release, as well as the 4K version of the film, on their website a couple of weeks ago.  The listing included mention of a filmmaker gallery and bonus features.  Best Buy also has a listing on their website for a 4K Steelbook release of the film.

It will be interesting to see what bonus features are included with the film, given the troubled production.  Solo co-writer Jon Kasdan had previously mentioned that he hoped deleted scenes would be included on the blu-ray (specifically the one featuring his cameo alongside Toby Hefferman as Tag and Bink).  Given the amount of reshoots this film went through, it will be interesting to see what gets included.  Rogue One, which also had significant reshoots (although it was less than on Solo), didn't include any deleted scenes.  Hopefully Solo will go a different route and feature at least a few, Ron Howard directed, deleted scenes, along with some behind the scenes featurettes.

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm of Disney.
