Eight New 'Forces of Destiny' Episodes Released

By: Dominic Jones

The latest series of episodes in the animated mico-series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny were released online on the official Disney YouTube channel today.  The episodes feature characters from across all Star Wars time periods, including Padme Amidala, Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Jyn Erso, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Maz Kanata, Rose Tico, and Rey.  They also feature many of the characters' original actors reprising their roles for the series, including Daisy Ridley, Kelly Marie Tran, John Boyega, Ashley Eckstein, Tiya Sircar, Lupita Nyong'o, and Mark Hamill.  You can see all eight episodes below,

"Hasty Departure"
Fans missing Star Wars Rebels, which wrapped up its four season run earlier this month, will enjoy this episode, which features Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, and Chopper on a mission to recover some medical supplies and, of course, things go awry.  The episodes features the Rebels cast reprising their roles, with Tiya Sircar playing Sabine, Vannessa Marshall playing Hera, and Dave Filoni playing Chopper.

"Unexpected Company"
Another Star Wars animated reunion of sorts.  This episode, set during the Clone Wars, features Ahsoka Tano, Padme Amidala, and Anakin Skywalker on a mission together.  The episode features the voice cast of Star Wars: The Clone Wars reprising their roles, with Ashley Eckstein playing Ahsoka, Cat Taber playing Padme, and Matt Lanter playing Anakin.

"Shuttle Shock"
Rose Tico makes her debut on Forces of Destiny in this episode set during the events of The Last Jedi.  "Shuttle Shock" sees Rose, Finn, and BB-8 run into some unexpected trouble as they approach the planet Cantonica in their search for the Master Codebraker.  Both Rose and Finn are voiced by the actors who portrayed them in live action, with Kelly Marie Tran and John Boyega returning to their roles.

"Jyn's Trade"
This story, set prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, features the softer side of Jyn Erso as she tracks down a thief who stole the Kyber Crystal necklace her mother gave her.  While the Jyn episodes last season saw Felicity Jones reprising her role from the 2016 film, this episode features the debut of Helen Sadler (Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars: The Old Republic) as Jyn.

"Run Rey Run"
In this episode set before the events of The Force Awakens, we see Rey in her element as a scavenger on Jakku.  While searching for valuable assets in the wrecked star destroyer, Rey is confronted by Teedo only for both of them to wind up in a perilous situation.  "Run Rey Run" featured Daisy Ridley reprising her role as Rey from the live action films.

"Bounty Hunted"
This episode, set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, explains how Leia Organa came into possession of the Boussh disguise she wore to Jabba's Palace during the mission to rescue Han Solo.  The episode also features Leia's first meeting with Maz Kanata, introduced by Chewbacca (of course!)  The episode stars Shelby Young as Leia alongside Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong'o, who reprises her role as Maz Kanata from the live action films.

"The Path Ahead"
This episode, set during the events of The Empire Strikes Back, features Mark Hamill reprising his role as Luke Skywalker for a new lesson from Yoda (voiced by The Clone Wars' Tom Kane) on Dagobah.

"Porg Problems"
The second episode of this season to feature Rey, "Porg Problems" is set during the events of The Last Jedi and features Rey interacting with a group of Porgs on Ahch-To.  As Rey is practicing her Force abilities (lifting rocks), a Porg steals her lightsaber and she has to track them down.
