After four seasons, Star Wars Rebels finally drawing to a close with its next batch of episodes, which begin airing next week. The mid-season finale episode "Rebel Assault" saw the crew of the Ghost suffer a devestating defeat on Lothal which ended with Hera Syndulla being captured by the Empire.
ABC News has now released a new clip from the upcoming mid-season premiere episode , "Jedi Night", which includes a conversation between the two Jedi of the series, Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger. Kanan instructs Ezra to take the lead in their mission to rescue Hera, being that Kanan fears his feelings for Syndulla could compromise the mission. You can check out the clip below:
Accompanying the clip was an intriguing interview with series co-creator Dave Filoni, conducted by ABC News' Clayton Sandell. In it, Filoni breaks down the clip, revealing more details about the story and dynamics between the characters:
“This is a big decision moment. Kanan is smart enough to know that his emotions around her could actually cloud his judgment and what he would choose to do... It is a nice transference moment. There’s always this thing where you have a student, and they’re becoming more and more adept than the master... What a nod from Kanan to say, ‘I trust you with this’,” said Filoni. “This is really important to him, this idea that Hera is in peril. You would think that there’s no way that Kanan wouldn’t take up the responsibility of leading this mission.”
And with Rebels ending soon, Sandell naturally pressed Filoni for details on what future animated Star Wars projects might be on the way. But, in true Dave Filoni fashion, his lips were sealed:
“I’m very busy on things right now, and excited about what we’re working on. There won’t be a lack of 'Star Wars' in the future, that’s for sure.”

Only six episodes of Star Wars Rebels are left! The beginning of the end starts Monday, February 19th at 9:00pm ET/PT on Disney XD.
