Phoebe Waller-Bridge Talks About The 'Solo' Directors Change

By: Dominic Jones

We're just over five months away from the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story in the theaters, and very little is known about what fans can expect from the upcoming film.  As such, the one thing the cast seems to be able to talk about is the infamous directors switch that took place midway through the film's shoot when Ron Howard was brought in to replace Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who had been shooting the film for five months at that point.

The latest cast member to comment on it is Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who spoke with IGN recently about the change.  She said about working with Lord and Miller, "We’d done some really, really great stuff with Chris and Phil that everyone was really thrilled with, and I think a lot of that will still be in it."

She also spoke about what it was like having Ron Howard come in to shoot the rest of the film, saying, "The handover there was done with such warmth and generosity from everybody, and Ron’s just a master at his craft; he’s going to make a beautiful film out of it."

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25th, 2018 and stars Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!) as Han Solo, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Woody Harrelson (True Detective), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Thandie Newton (Westworld), and Paul Bettany (The Avengers).  The film is directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), with a script by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and his son Jon Kasdan (The First Time).
