Since selling Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012, George Lucas hasn't largely stepped away from Star Wars. He still pops up now then, visiting the set of Rogue One and at events like the world premier for The Force Awakens and the 40th anniversary panel at Star Wars Celebration, but he isn't really involved in Star Wars anymore. That being said, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that he'll still offer little bits of advice about aspects that are important to him.
Kennedy was asked if Lucas was currently involvement in the development of the current Star Wars films by Entertainment Weekly recently, to which she replied, "Not really,” she said. “But he’ll whisper in my ear every now and then.
Usually it’s something specific or important to him about Jedi training.
Things like that."
Lucas famously wrote outlines for the sequel trilogy which Disney and Lucasfilm have largely deviated from (though some of his broad strokes ideas still exist in The Force Awakens).
