On This Day: July 28, 2013

By Ciaran Duggan,

The Star Wars fan convention, Star Wars: Celebration Europe II, came to an end on this day back in 2013.

The convention served as a followup to Celebration Europe, the first European official Star Wars convention, which was held in London in July 2007.

More than 20,000 people descended on Essen, Germany, from over 40 countries to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy made her Star Wars Celebration debut in a memorable interview with main stage host Warwick Davis where she announced that John Williams would be composing Episode VII.
