Outside of a short teaser over a year ago, no footage of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi has been screened publicly. While there is still no footage available for public consumption, some footage was screened for Disney Investors at today's Disney Shareholders Conference. Reporter for The LA Times Daniel Miller was in attendance and live tweeted the event, sharing descriptions of what was seen. Check them out below,
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" clip is being screened. But it's a joke, sort of! We just got a few seconds of Rey handing Luke a lightsaber.— Daniel Miller (@DanielNMiller) March 8, 2017
We just saw more "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" footage. In it, Luke asks Rey, "Who are you?" Then we see her deftly handle a lightsaber.— Daniel Miller (@DanielNMiller) March 8, 2017
Also making appearances in "The Last Jedi" footage: Chewbacca, General Leia Organa and Finn.— Daniel Miller (@DanielNMiller) March 8, 2017
One last thing on the "Last Jedi" footage: We saw all sorts of settings -- mountains, oceans, forests, deserts. Look suitably epic, exotic.— Daniel Miller (@DanielNMiller) March 8, 2017
More on "The Last Jedi" clip: We saw a shot of an X-wing wobbling mid-air, under attack inside a giant ship. Looked like a wounded bird.— Daniel Miller (@DanielNMiller) March 8, 2017
More on "The Last Jedi" clip, since ppl are asking: General Leia Organa was onscreen for just a second in military garb and didn't speak.— Daniel Miller (@DanielNMiller) March 8, 2017
Finally, "The Last Jedi" footage included a shot of Rey, clearly under duress, surrounded by many small orbs of light that hung in the air.

That's some pretty interesting descriptions. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this is a version of a trailer or sizzle reel we may be seeing next month at Star Wars Celebration Orlando. It really hits a lot of the notes that fans would be excited about (Rey in action, Luke speaking, the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia, Finn back in action, etc.) and would certainly get a roaring reception at Celebration and online if it were to be released. The only thing that seems to be missing a little bit of Dark Side action, like a first look at Kylo Ren or Snoke, but there is still plenty of time to get to that.
Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15th. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and stars Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, and Carrie Fisher.
