Thandie Newton (Westworld) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) are set to star in the upcoming untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story, as principal photography starts.
The stand alone film will explore the adventures of Han Solo prior to the events of Star Wars: A New Hope. Production started yesterday at Pinewood Studios, London.
The film's co-directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, have said: "Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous.
"We can't think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.
Alden Ehrenreich has been officially cast as the young Han Solo, with Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. Other cast members include Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke.
The film has been written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan and is set to be produced by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
The untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story is set for release on May 25, 2018.
