Variety first revealed that Adam Driver would play the villain in Star Wars: The Force Awakens on this day in 2014.
An exclusive story was published by Variety which disclosed the fact that 'while no deal was done yet', sources had made Variety aware that Adam Driver was the front runner for being the villain in Episode VII.
The description of the character was confined to the fact he would be 'in the vein of Darth Vader'.
Little did we know that Driver's character would include a design similarity, and, familial connection to the iconic Star Wars villain.
We now know that Variety's exclusive was spot on, as Adam Driver was cast to play Kylo Ren in the Sequel trilogy.
Interestingly Adam Driver was known for his role in 'Girls' and that is how Variety referenced the actor in their article Driver's resume has certainly expanded since then with appearances in Star Wars and Silence.
