Star Wars legend Anthony Daniels was born on this day in 1946.
Daniels played C-3PO in all six movies of George Lucas' Star Wars franchise.
The 71-year-old has since starred in the two newest Star Wars films, which have been created since George Lucas ceded control of Lucasfilm to Disney in 2013, The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
However it was also Daniels' own performance which propelled the status of the character within Star Wars folkore. Anthony was able to add his own unique personality to, on the surface, a lifeless droid.
We wish Anthony Daniels a very happy birthday today.
On this day in 1997, 'Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back' was re-released in US theatres and was marketed as a 'special edition'.
