J.J. Abrams, director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has said that he expects Mark Hamill will be in the running for an Academy Award for best actor next year.
The former Star Wars director thinks Mark Hamill's performance in 'The Last Jedi' will be Oscar worthy.
Interestingly Hamill has never been nominated for an Academy Award - although he was a presenter in 1978.
J.J said: "I think we are all going to be upset if he does not win an Oscar, and no more upset that Mark," he told New York Daily News at the Oscar Wilde Awards in L.A.
"He is hysterically funny. He has done comedy. He is an amazing guy - he can do anything."
Star Wars fans will have to wait until December this year to decide whether or not Hamill's monologue is in fact Oscar worthy, as Abrams has predicted.
