The Force Awakens isn't even out of theaters yet and production on its sequel has already gone into full swing. Yesterday it was announced that Star Wars: Episode VII had begun filming. In addition, members of the cast and crew took to social media to react to the news and give updates about their returning to work on the new film.
First off, Luke Skywalker himself reacted to the announcement with a hashtag filled tweet:
An adventure just beginning.... #StillNoDialogue #RianHasMoreLinesThanMe #Wait4VIII #StarWars #StarWarsEpVIII https://t.co/rdQ9cxFApe— Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) February 15, 2016
Later, director Rian Johnson had a pretty hilarious tweet marking the wrapping of their first day of filming:
Day one in the can!— Rian Johnson (@rianjohnson) February 15, 2016
Meaning we finished, not that we filmed it in a toilet. Though I'm not saying we didn't. Ok I should stop typing now.
John Boyega(Finn) also chimed in:
First day on Star Wars 8 complete ! We must face them! Fight them!— John Boyega (@JohnBoyega) February 15, 2016
Daisy Ridley(Rey) as well posted the Episode VIII teaser video to her Instagram along with some words regarding the news that Kelly Marie Tran had joined the cast:
Its awesome to know that all our favorites from The Force Awakens, along with some new faces, are hard at work on the next installment in the saga. It will be a while before we see the fruits of their labor though, as Episode VIII on December 15th, 2017. At least we have Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to enjoy in the meantime.
