Rumor: 'The Force Awakens' Location Being Recreated at Pinewood Studios for Episode VIII

By: Dominic Jones

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been in theaters for just ten days (making a tonne of money in that time) and already work is being done at Pinewood Studios on Star Wars Episode VIII which begins shooting in January.  This should come as no surprise, especially since scenes from the film were already filmed in September at a familiar location, with the Rian Johnson directed film due for May 26th, 2017 release date.  Our friends over at have heard some reports about a certain set that will be familiar to fans who have seen The Force Awakens being recreated at Pinewood Studios for Episode VIII.  This isn't a huge spoiler, but if you are trying to avoid any information about Episode VIII stop reading now.  This is your SPOILER ALERT!
According to MSW's sources, the Skellig Michael sets (where Rey met Luke in The Force Awakens) are being recreated on sound stages and back lots at Pinewood in London.  According to their source,

"The Skellig Michael sets have been built and in some cases recreated at Pinewood. The location of the set at Pinewood is the same place they filmed the Jakku village scenes for The Force Awakens. Filming at Skellig Michael was just too complicated for environmental reasons. Migrating birds have more power than any corporation over that isle."

There have been issues filming at Skellig Michael in the past.  The location is protected because of its bird population, not to mention weather and sea conditions can prevent crews from being able to make the journey from the mainland to island (this happened back in September).

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
