With all the news about new Star Wars things coming to the Disney Parks in the coming months and years (Launch Bay, new Star Tours planets, and a whole new Star Wars theme park - construction on which begins next year). But with all these good things coming, some old favorites may be on their way out. Walt Disney News Today is reporting that the annual Star Wars Weekends events at Disney's Hollywood Studios will be retired in 2016, meaning this year's events would have been the last one.
In addition, WDNT is also reporting that classic Disney characters dressed as Star Wars characters (Jedi Mickey, Darth Goofy, etc.) will also be retired. This was first reported by our friends at RebelForce Radio back in May.
While it's sad to see Weekends go (assuming this report is true), there are apparently still plans for Star Wars seasonal events in the parks (beginning in January 2016 with Season of the Force).
As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
How do you feel about the rumor that Star Wars Weekends is ending? What about the retirement of the Disney-Star Wars cross-over character? Let us know in the comments.
