'Supremacy' Mode Unveiled For Star Wars Battlefront

Lately we've been treated to more and more details about the highly anticipated game Star Wars Battlefront. Last week we got our first look at "Fighter Squadron" mode and yesterday they revealed an all new, but very familiar match type titled "Supremacy". In this mode, players are tasked with capturing and holding all, or a majority of, five control points placed across the map. Each of the teams will begin with a pair of control points from which they can move to fight over the control point in the center of the map. The team to achieve this within the ten minute long match wins.

On top of that, heroes, such as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, will be playable during the match and various vehicles, such as X-Wings, TIE Fighters, various walkers on the ground, will be at your disposal at several locations on the map. Supremacy will be playable on the some of the biggest maps the game has to offer on several worlds, including Endor(seen above).

Battlefront's lead level designer Dennis Brännvall spoke about the Supremacy and how it compares to the design of other DICE games, such as Battlefield:

“When you spawn into Supremacy, you don’t have to move far to see a lot of friends – and enemies. You’re thrown into a massive frontline, where your screen is filled with adversaries: infantry, Heroes, Walkers, and starfighters. You can prepare for very heavy and focused Star Wars action.”

“Supremacy is a game mode that will excite fans of the Conquest mode from Battlefield. That said, we’ve made several tweaks to improve the formula. You will always spawn close to the action when you enter Supremacy, so you’ll never feel isolated from the fight. By focusing on one key point at a time, players not playing the objective and camping on a hill somewhere will be a rare sight.”

I think Star Wars fans, especially long time Battlefront fans, will recognize Supermacy mode as being very similar to a lot of the gameplay in Battlefronts I & II. I know for me, personally, this is the mode I'm most looking forward to playing. It sounds like it will be the most versatile, with heroes and plenty of vehicles, which could mean it will also be the most unpredictable a fun.

Star Wars Battlefront comes to Xbox, PC and PS4 on November 17th!
