On Saturday Disney blew everyone's minds with the reveal of a massive, 14-acre Star Wars theme park expansion that will be coming to both Disney World in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland in Anaheim, California sometime in the near future. But later they also revealed some plans for events and attractions that will be coming much sooner.
StarWars.com revealed that, firstly, the Star Wars Launch Bay exhibit, which was revealed for Shanghai Disneyland, will also be coming to both U.S. parks later this year. Additionally. Star Tours will be getting a The Force Awakens themed update sometime soon, and early next year both parks will host an event titled "Seasons Of The Force" which will included, among other things, the classic ride Space Mountain being transformed into "Hyperspace Mountain". You can get all the details in the official descriptions below:
"Star Wars Launch Bay – Opening later this year, this interactive experience will take guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and Disneyland park in California into the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as well as the first six films in the Star Wars saga."
"Star Tours – The Adventures Continue – Later this year, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida and Disneyland park in California will include a new adventure featuring locations and characters from the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
"Season of the Force – This new seasonal event, beginning early 2016, brings new experiences to both coasts. In Tomorrowland at Disneyland park, guests will explore the Star Wars galaxy with special entertainment, themed food locations and Hyperspace Mountain – a reimagining of the classic Space Mountain attraction in which guests will join an X-wing starfighter battle. Disney’s Hollywood Studios will feature a new fireworks spectacular set to the iconic score of the Star Wars movies on weekend nights."
We also learned at the Disney Parks presentation at D23 that the Jedi Training Academy will also be getting an update.. All of this, coupled with the huge Star Wars expansions that are coming to Disney Parks, will certainly make the "happiest place on Earth" even happier for us Star Wars fans.
