Rumor: New 'Strong, Young Female Character' to Join the Cast of Episode VIII

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens isn't even in theaters yet and we know (thanks Benicio Del Toro) that casting for the Rian Johnson directed Star Wars Episode VIII has already begun.  It seems that in addition to adding a new villain to the roster in the sequel, a new hero could be on the horizon as well.  According to Geek Nation, the production is in the midst of casting "a strong, young female character to be featured heavily in Star Wars: Episode VIII."

Immediately this news is exciting.  It's good to see more prominent female characters in Star Wars, and this seems to be a continuation of what was started with Rey in The Force Awakens and Felicity Jones in Rogue One.  As for who this new character is, according to Geek Nation, that's a pretty big spoiler.  So if you are trying to avoid all Star Wars spoilers stop reading now.  This is your SPOILER ALERT!

According to Geek Nation,

"According to our anonymous source, the role isn’t for just a completely new female character in the series, but the character is allegedly Han Solo’s daughter in the film."

Han Solo's daughter?  Not Han and Leia's daughter?  Very interesting....

Now many have assumed that Daisy Ridley's Rey would turn out to be Han and Leia's daughter, after all Ridley does bear a resemblance to both Carrie Fisher and Natalie Portman.  But there have also been those that are adamant that Rey is not related to any of Han, Leia, or even Luke.  If Rey does turn out to not be related to anyone, the surprise introduction of Han's long lost daughter (especially if the big spoiler turns out to be true) in Episode VIII would be a nice way of keeping the Solo bloodline going.

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
