Rumor: Second Anthology Film Will Focus On Boba Fett Vs Han Solo

By: Benjamin Hart

The rumors surrounding the Anthology films don't seem to stop, especially when it comes to these two characters. The guys at Schmoes Know are reporting that they have heard from inside sources that the second Anthology, which is due for release in 2018, will be set between Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope and will focus on the rivalry between Han Solo and Boba Fett. Here's what Schmoes Know had to say:

"The source reports that the conflict between Fett and Solo that was only hinted at in the original trilogy (and seen countless times in the Expanded Universe) will finally be onscreen... Additionally, it’s been mentioned that characters such as Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and Bossk will make appearances throughout the film.... Also, according to the source, Disney really wants to delve into the “hive of scum and villainy” that Star Wars has been known for. As Rouge One definitely seems to be playing off of the influences of War films (the Zero Dark Thirty/Saving Private Ryan of the Star Wars Universe) this Anthology film will explore the influence of Westerns and bounty hunter films."

They also claim that John Faverau and Matthew Vaughn may be in line to replace Josh Trank as director. Their source adds that the third Anthology film will be "much more 'mythological and spiritual' based" and could be the long rumored origin film for Yoda.

Boba Fett and Han Solo have been two names we've heard many times in rumors related to the Anthology films, most of the time in the context of an origin story for either character. But Star Wars  has always been know for it's ensemble casts in the past rather than single character focused stories. A film focusing on the relationship between Han and Boba, with the inclusion of other "scum and villainy" sounds much more plausible, and frankly, more interesting. Since both Fett and Solo would be coming of age in this period, putting them together, or pitting them against each, would be an intriguing premise for the film.

As always, we will file this one as a rumor until officially confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney.
