Rumor: Concept Art of Lupita Nyong'o's Maz Kanata Leaked

By: Dominic Jones

Earlier this week Vanity Fair confirmed that Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave) would be playing a motion capture character in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.  They also revealed that the character's name is Maz Kanata.  They didn't, however, show us an images of Maz.  Indie Revolver has stepped in with a piece of concept art of Maz.  Now, as usual, there is is chance this may not be Maz (or at least, not the final version) but if you are trying to avoid all The Force Awakens spoilers then stop reading now.  This is your SPOILER ALERT!
Check out the image below,

Now, eagle eyed readers will have notices in the most recent trailer for The Force Awakens that the hand that gives the lightsaber to (who we believe is) Leia is an alien hand and in the top left part of the frame you can see very briefly a portion of the alien face.  See below,

The main difference between the screen shot from the trailer and the leaked concept art is that character in the trailer is orange and the character in the concept art is green/grey/blue.  The explanation is likely that the concept art is an early design and the character changed color as the design phase of the film progressed.  Other than that, the quick look at the character's face that we get does look very similar to the concept art.

As always, this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
