There have been tonnes of rumors about the story of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens over the past several months. Some huge, some not so huge. One thing is certain though, if fans are looking for spoilers about the film, they exist and at least some of them are real. Director JJ Abrams addressed the spoiler situation this week in an interview with News.com.au, saying,
"The level of scrutiny is pretty much unprecedented for me. My dream is that, despite so many rumours — many of which are true,
many of which are untrue — when people see the movie, they see something
that hasn’t been completely ruined for them by having read spoilers
they might not have wanted to read"
I like the approach JJ is taking to spoilers. He seems to be, if not embracing then, accepting the situation. He previously stated that he was grateful that there were people out there who wanted to read The Force Awakens spoilers. His call for spoiler etiquette is something that even spoiler readers, like myself, can appreciate. It's important for those of us who like spoilers to be aware that there are people who don't feel the same way and we shouldn't ruin their experience. It's something we do here at The SWU by clearly labeling every spoiler article and even giving people an out if they clicked on it by accident.
