Rumor: Even More Episode VII Concept Art Descriptions

By: Dominic Jones

Our friends over at are back with even more descriptions of some leaked concept art for Star Wars Episode VII.  These pieces deal with a location for the film and the costume of a returning character.  As per usual, there's a chance these could turn out to be false but if you're trying to avoid all potential Episode VII spoilers stop reading now!  This is your official SPOILER ALERT!
First up they have a description of some concept art of a hanger that will be seen in the film.  According to,
The Death Star hanger was just a rectangle with a band of light around it. That concept is used here in this new hanger but imagine a hexagon about the same size. The whole hanger itself is a hexagon instead of a rectangle box like the old hangers.

The floor is also a shiny black and gets scuffed up:

The walls have protruding panels or slabs, whatever you call those. But they arc higher up towards the walls because of the hexagonal shape of the room.

The interesting thing is that in this piece walls have spaces in between the light panels in such  a way that allows TIE Fighters to sit in the space  for storage. The TIES are stacked four high. They are not directly on top of one another either as they follow the shape of the walls so they kind of staircase, if you will. So it goes one TIE on the floor and then three more TIEs following the arc of the wall in a staircase fashion.

To the right of the hanger, Stormtroopers stand at attention around some abstract grey technology, could be generators or more shuttles the artist intended to add. There’s some yellow outlines around areas where boxes and crates are allowed to be stored.

To the left of the hanger, there appears to be a new Lambda style shuttle or shuttle Tydirium. The two wings flip up, there’s the fin in the center but it looks flatter and less sleek then the one we saw in Return of the Jedi.

At the time of this piece, the villain for the film wasn’t yet finalized. So that figure walks with Stormtroopers towards the shuttle, I presume. The bad guy and his escort are at the entrance of the hanger, just walking in. The ceiling to the hallway area has little red lights, but the hanger inside is illuminated by the classic white lights we’ve seen in Death Star hangers.

The painting has a very original trilogy vibe to it and I think the set should look brilliant if this painting is any indication of what we’re going to see.

End note: the real set based off this art appears in the TMZ pics (above).

This sounds like they're taking what we saw in the Original Trilogy and updating it in a way that would be logical for thirty years in the future.  Sort or like what they are doing with the Stormtrooper design.

And the next bit of concept art that they got their hands on is of Han Solo's costume from the film.  According to,
One new piece I’ve seen has Han Solo equipped a little more practical for the snow planet we see will likely see in Star Wars: Episode VII.  That planet isn’t as cold as Hoth, it has trees and life on it. So Han solo wears black boots, black pants, a his classic white shirt, a black vest but the coat over it is interesting. The coat he wears it just like the one George Lucas wore during the making of the original trilogy. The left side of the coat has a breast pocket. Han Solo looks pretty cool in this piece. Basically just put George Lucas’ sheep skin lined coat on the classic Han Solo costume with black pants and you’ve got the picture.

The next piece is casual Han. In this piece he’s in a different stance than the Indie Revolver duster costume. But he’s just wearing black pants and a white shirt. The white shirt is the same as the shirt he’s wearing in the Indie Revolver concept for the duster coat. Interestingly, when he has no coat on, he has double gun holsters, one one each side. This Han costume is ready to go to a gun fight.

Sounds cool!  Although it doesn't quite line up with a some concept art of Han's costumes that was leaked earlier, that can easily be explained both in and out of universe.  Out of universe, these could be various designs that were suggested by the art department before the final choice was made (like we saw George doing with concept art and maquettes during the making of the prequels).  As for an in universe explanation, well maybe Han just changes his clothes a couple of times!

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
