David Oyelowo Talks Episode VII

By: Benjamin Hart

You may remember some rumors from a few months back about both Michael B. Jordan and David Oyelowo auditioning for Episode VII. While Jordan confirmed the rumor, Oyelowo has remained silent, until now. E Online asked Oyelowo about the rumors, and while he didn't confirm it, he didn't deny it either:

"Everyone is asking me about Star Wars," Oyelowo said Saturday at the BAFTA LA Jaguar Britannia Awards. "The breaking news is J.J. Abrams is going to give you that breaking news."

He added, "I'd go anywhere to work with J.J. Abrams. I think what he did with Star Trek was so extraordinary…And I think what he'll do with Star Wars will be just as impressive."

He also added that Lando Calrissian is his favorite character:

"He was pretty cool," the actor said.

How so?

Oyelowo said with a big smile, "Because he looks like me."

So, yeah, nothing ground breaking here. But his comments do add weight to the previous rumors. Official announcements from Lucasfilm have been coming in more often lately, so casting news could be right around the corner.

Episode VII opens in theaters December 18th, 2015. In the meantime, what role do you think David Oyelowo would be best fit for? A hero or a villain? Let us know in the comments below, or on Facebook!
