Lately we've been hearing a lot from and about the Actors of the Original trilogy concerning their involvement in Star Wars Episode VII. Mark Hamill claims he's been contacted, Harrison Ford is rumored to be returning, Billy Dee wants to come back, and now we have it straight from the Princess' mouth; Carrie Fisher says she will indeed be returning to the role of Leia Organa in Episode VII. This bombshell came in the middle of a Q & A with Palm Beach Illustrated. She was asked: "Disney is going to continue the Star Wars saga, producing movies set to hit theaters starting in 2015. Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?" To which she simply replied "Yes." Now Carrie is know for joking around, especially with the Media. But this appears to be legitimate. We'll just have to wait and see if Lucasfilm or Disney steps up and confirms it.
Next she was asked: What do you think Princess Leia is like today?" And she responded: "Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs].
I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle."
We will certainly keep you updated on this story as it develops. In the meantime, are you excited to see Carrie as Leia in upcoming films? Why or why not? Let us know in the comments below.
Update(Via Furious Fanboys): CNN is now reporting that this "confirmation" really isn't a confirmation at all.
"She was joking," a rep for Fisher told CNN about the star's comment. "Nothing has been announced."
But was she really joking? Or is Disney/Lucasfilm wanting to crack down on the rumors to make way for their official announcement? We've seen this type of thing before, J.J Abrams initially denied being Episode VII's director before it was officially announced. So we'll just have to wait and see...
