Star Wars Fans Building Life-Size Millennium Falcon

By Chris Seekell

Star Wars fans will always reach for the stars. Last year plans to build a life-size AT-AT Walker were shot down by Lucasfilm over safety concerns. Now the passionate community is striking back by crowd-sourcing the construction of a to-scale Millennium Falcon model.

The project is headed by 501st member Chris Lee (TK-326). The Falcon will be built on land that Lee purchased outside of Nashville, Tennessee. When completed, it will be 114 feet long, 25 feet high, and will stand 7 feet above the ground.

Unlike the AT-AT, Lucasfilm has not shut down the project, which is not looking to raise funds directly. However Lee is looking for material and labor donations from fellow fans to help complete the Falcon. You can learn more about this by visiting their website here, and below is a Youtube video that shows a computer generated model of the proposed ship.

Unfortunately, it isn't likely that this thing will ever make the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. But it's definitely progress! I can't wait to make a pilgrimage to Tennessee when it's finished!
