Hello there, for those who don't me from my old website my name is Chris Lynn (aka Irish Chris, aka Kisho Meteora Star Wars Collector) and I am thrilled to announce that our project, 'The Plastic Strikes Back', has a brand new home here at the Star Wars Underworld!
The Plastic Strikes Back is our (my girlfriend Shannen and I) attempt to recreate The Empire Strikes Back using items from our collection to replace as many actors, props and vehicles as possible. We've been working on it since the beginning of Summer, after 5 months we've made our way through the first 20 minutes of the movie and if you want to catch up on our photos so far you can click here to view our Facebook album.
This week's scene sees Han and Chewie working to repair the Falcon and leave Echo Base but first there is this single shot scene from The Empire Strikes Back:
This is the scene from the movie in which Ralph McQuarrie made his walk on cameo as 'General Pharl McQuarrie'. we've used this figure of the general a few times already to replace background characters so it's cool to finally use the figure to replace the character it's based on. Turns out this figure is perfect for the shot with both arms and hands in the right position.
For anyone new to this project, we aim to use the Hasbro action figure line where possible however vehicles tend to be a bit more of a challenge, the Rebel transports seen above are actually from the now discontinued Star Wars Miniatures game by Wizards of the Coast. The main scene this week however heavily features our Hasbro Millennium Falcom aka the 'The BMF':
I adore this toy, it was the first properly expensive collectible I bought and has been really useful in making The Plastic Strikes Back so far and the more we work with it the better we're becoming at using to replace all elements of the falcon from the movie.
Hopefully you fellow fans and friends new and old like the project and are half as excited as I am to follow our progress at our wonderful new home. Thoughts, questions, ideas please leave us a comment and check back next week as we get ever closer to the Battle of Hoth.
Finally don't forget to check out the project so far in our Facebook album and give us a 'like'!
