'The Rise Of Skywalker' Receives Multiple Oscar & BAFTA Nominations

Awards season is upon us and as always we can expect to see Star Wars at least garner a few nominations over the new few months. Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, which is still inching closer to the one billion box office mark since its release last month, has been able to pick a collection of award nominations recently.


First off, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts(BAFTA) revealed their nominees for their 2020 season, and The Rise Of Skywalker acquired three of them:

Special Visuals Effects:
  • 1917, Greg Butler, Guillaume Rocheron, Dominic Tuohy
  • Avengers: Endgame, Dan Deleeuw, Dan Sudick
  • The Irishman, Leandro Estebecorena, Stephane Grabli, Pablo Helman
  • The Lion King, Andrew R. Jones, Robert Legato, Elliot Newman, Adam Valdez
  • Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Roger Guyett, Paul Kavanagh, Neal Scanlan, Dominic Tuohy
Sound:
  • 1917, Scott Millan, Oliver Tarney, Rachael Tate, Mark Taylor, Stuart Wilson
  • Joker, Tod Maitland, Alan Robert Murray, Tom Ozanich, Dean Zupancic

And in addition, earlier today the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed the nominees for the 2020 Oscars. The Rise Of Skywalker was among these nominees as well and garnered Oscar nods in three different categories:
