Alien Based on Carrie Fisher's Dog Gary Fisher to Appear in 'The Last Jedi'

Carrie Fisher's beloved dog, Gary Fisher, who endeared himself to fans during Fisher's many convention Q&As in the final years of her life, was the inspiration behind a the design of a new alien appearing in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.  The news was confirmed by director Rian Johnson, who responded on Twitter to a question from Clair Henry of Fantha Tracks about whether "#SpaceGary" could be spotted in a still image released by Empire Magazine several months back. The image features Finn and Rose having a stare-down in the foreground, while in the background a wide range of alien creatures can be seen.  The director responded to the Tweet, saying, "YES! Wow, good eyes."  Check it out for yourself below,

Carrie had tweeted a picture of Gary on the set, seated in her "Episode VIII: Space Bear" chair, back in February 2016 when the film was being shot.

Now, on to the next most important question, does this mean there's also an alien based on Mark Hamill's dog Millie in The Last Jedi too?  We'll find out in eight days!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15th.  The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and stars Daisy Ridley as Rey, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Amilyn Holdo, Benicio Del Toro as DJ, and Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata.
