Ron Howard Shares Picture of Thandie Newton on Han Solo Film Set

In the past few weeks we've heard about a couple of actors wrapping up their time shooting their scenes for the upcoming untitled Han Solo film.  Director Ron Howard has taken to Twitter in the past few weeks to highlight the different stars of his film, like Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), Paul Bettany, and Emilia Clarke (Kura), who have all completed their scenes for the film.  Today took to highlight another star of his film, tweeting a photo of himself and Westworld star Thandie Newton on the set with the caption, " returned 2 to light up some key new scenes then back to . Iden Versio Finds Out The Emperor Is Dead In New 'Battlefront II' Clip

Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm have released a new preview clip from the cutscenes from the story mode of the upcoming video game Star Wars Battlefront II.  The clip features Imperial Admiral Garrick Versio telling his daughter Iden (the game's protagonist) that the Emperor is dead and giving her Inferno Squad's next assignment.  The clip also features one of the Emperor's sentinel droids, seen in the comic miniseries Shattered Empire and the novel Aftermath: Empire's End.  Check it out below,

New 'Star Wars: Forces of Destiny' Trailer

Lucasfilm has released the official trailer for the next batch of episodes of the animated micro-series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny.  The trailer features looks at new episodes that will feature characters like Rey, Jyn Erso, Leia Organa, Padme Amidala, Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, Ketsu Onyo, and Maz Kanata.  Also featured in the trailer are Anakin Skywalker, Han Solo, Yoda, Finn, and Unkar Plutt.  The new episodes will in TV specials on the Disney Channel on October 1st and 29th.  Check it out below,

ILM Releases New 'Rogue One' VFX "Behind the Magic" Reel

As announced on this week's episode of "The Star Wars Show", Industrial Light and Magic released a new behind the scenes reel showing how some of the 1750 visual effects shots for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story were created.  The reel shows how locations such as Scarif and Jedha were created, as well as what went into creating Tarkin for the film.  The reel was first created for SIGGRAPH 2017's Computer Animation Festival.  Check it out for yourself below,

'Star Wars Rebels' Season Four Poster Revealed

Two years ago, Star Wars fans were introduced to Sphero Inc., with the launch of  their now world famous app-controlled BB-8 toy in advance of The Force Awakens.  It was like catching lightning in a bottle--a soon to be iconic character from the new film mixed with fun, new technology.  Sphero BB-8 went on to become a worldwide phenomenon and now, two years later, Sphero has launched two follow ups: R2-D2 and BB-9E.

Ron Howard Reveals McQuarrie Reference in the Han Solo Movie

Ron Howard, director of the upcoming untitled Han Solo movie, has been posting lots of fun tidbits and sneak peaks behind the scenes from the set ever since he took over from Phil Lord and Chris Miller as director back in June.  Today he posted a new image of what appears to be a potion of the set that features some sort of alien writing/symbols carved into stone.  Howard revealed that this is a reference to famed Star Wars designer Ralph McQuarrie, who designed many of the most iconic vehicles and characters for the original trilogy.  Howard then asked fans if anyone could translate what was being said.  Check it out below,

Temuera Morrison Hopes To Play Captain Rex In Live-Action

Easily one of the most popular characters to originate in Star Wars animation is Clone Captain CT-7567, a.k.a "Rex". He first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, later made his way into Star Wars Rebels, and even became the subject of a massive fan theory that would have put him in Return Of The Jedi. Ian McDiarmid Says He Doesn't Want Anyone Else to Play Palpatine

Ian McDiarmid has a long history with the Star Wars film.  The actor was cast back in 1982 to play Emperor Palpatine in Return of the Jedi, a role he later returned to 15 years later for the prequel trilogy.  While Palpatine is not expected to appear in any future films post-Return of the Jedi (being dead and all), but McDiarmid seems like he would be open to returning to the role for one of the stand-alones.

Emilia Clarke Wraps Filming on the Han Solo Film

The mother of dragons has left the galaxy far, far away.  Director Ron Howard announced today in an Instagram post that Emilia Clare (Game of Thrones) had completed filming all of her scenes for the upcoming untitled Han Solo film.  Howard made the announcement with a picture of him and Clarke on set with the caption, "#emiliaclarke gave us a terrific performance & left! Full List of 'Battlefront II' of Map Locations Revealed

Episode Titles and Schedule for the First Half of 'Star Wars Rebels' Season Four Revealed

The official release schedule and episode titles for the first half of the fourth and final season of Star Wars Rebels has been revealed on StarWars.com.  Lucasfilm confirmed, as we learned a few weeks ago, that the release schedule for this season is a bit different.  The first four weeks of the season will feature back-to-back episodes, and the episode will air five times throughout the day on Disney XD beginning at 12:30am (yes, half past midnight).

Report: Paramount is Not Happy JJ Abrams is Returning to 'Star Wars'

Many fans celebrated the news that JJ Abrams would be returning to Star Wars to direct Star Wars Episode IX, the final installment of the sequel trilogy.  However, Paramount Studios was not so pleased.  The reason for this displeasure, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is that back in 2006 Abrams signed a deal with with Paramount to make Paramount his "home studio."  According to THR, the deal is "worth a hefty $10 million a year in overhead and development."

Lucasfilm Releases First Episode of 'Science and Star Wars' Webseries

The first episode of Lucasfilm's newest Star Wars webseries debuted on Facebook today.  The series "Science and Star Wars" is hosted by The Star Wars Show host Anthony Carboni and it looks at the connections between real world science and the science fiction of the Star Wars series. Report: 'The Last Jedi' World Premiere to Be Held December 8th

Variety is reporting that the world premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be held on December 8th, one week before the film's wide release on December 15th.  The premiere will be held in Los Angeles, California, though no specific location in the city has been confirmed.  For both The Force Awakens and Rogue One premieres, Lucasfilm hosted a live stream of the red carpet and, while nothing has been officially announced, it seems likely that they will do the same this year.

At long last, the next trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi is on the horizon.  Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill teased fans on Twitter, replying to a question about when the trailer is coming by saying, "Watch Monday Night Football on Monday October 9th- For no reason in particular."  Hamill has since deleted the tweet (see the screenshot below) and replied to another fan asking about the trailer, "I have no idea. Disney will announce when they are ready. #WaitForVIIITrailer"

Domhnall Gleeson Talks About the 'Episode IX' Directors Change

Comic Book One-Shot 'The Storms of Crait' Announced

Lucasfilm announced today that Marvel comics will be publishing a special one issue story, titled "The Storms of Crait" on December 27th, 2017 to tie in with the upcoming release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15th.  The issue is written by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker (Join the Resistance) with art by Mike Mayhew.  The story will feature Luke and Leia is set during the Galactic Civil War, telling the backstory of the planet Crait which will appear in the film.

Del Rey Previews 'From A Certain Point Of View' Short Stories on Twitter

Cover for 'Star Wars: Canto Bight' Novella Revealed

Lucasfilm unveiled the cover for the upcoming "Journey to The Last Jedi" novella titled Star Wars: Canto Bight.  The novella is made up of four short stories, written by authors John Jackson Miller, Rae Carson, Saladin Ahmed, and Mira Grant that are all set on Canto Bight, the casino city featured in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.  The novella will be released on December 5th, 2017.  The cover was revealed during this week's episode of The Star Wars Show by hosts Andi Gutierrez and Anthony Carboni.  You can check out the episode below,

Billie Lourd Reveals She Auditioned for Rey in 'The Force Awakens'

Fans wanting to read Jason Fry's novelization of Rian Johnson's upcoming film Star Wars: The Last Jedi will have to wait a little longer than usual.  The Penguin Random House website updated it's listing for the book with the release date of March 6th, 2018.  When asked about the release date on Twitter, the official Del Rey Star Wars account confirmed that there is no mistake on the listing regarding the release date.

Rian Johnson Shares New Porg Details on Twitter

The most sought after toys on Force Friday II earlier this month, hands down, were the Porgs.  Porgs were officially unveiled back in August in the D23 Expo behind the scenes reel (after first being revealed online by MakingStarWars.net).  Since then Porgs have become a fan favourite that many can't wait to actually see on screen.  Director Rian Johnson decided to share some more little details about the Porgs with a fan a Twitter.  Johnson described the Porgs tweeting, "They are sea birds. Their coloring varies. Males are slightly larger than females. They can fly short distances. They're inquisitive."

'Star Wars Episode IX' Release Date Moved to December 20, 2019

In a move that surprises no one, Lucasfilm has moved the release date of Star Wars Episode IX to December 20th, 2019.  The news follows the announcement this morning that JJ Abrams is taking over the writing and directing of the final instalment of the sequel trilogy this morning.  The film was originally slated to be released on May 24th, 2019 with Colin Trevorrow as director (Trevorrow was removed from the project last week).

The First Six Episode Titles of 'Star Wars Rebels' Season Four Revealed

BREAKING: JJ Abrams Returns to 'Star Wars' to Write and Direct 'Episode IX'

The man who kicked off the sequel trilogy in 2015 with Star Wars: The Force Awakens is returning to finish it.  Lucasfilm announced today that JJ Abrams would be taking over writing and directing duties on Star Wars Episode IX.  The news comes less than a week after it was announced that Colin Trevorrow, who had been slated to direct the the upcoming film, had left the project.  Lucasfilm also announced that Abrams will co-write the final instalment in the sequel trilogy with Chris Terrio.
