Sphero Officially Unveils Their New BB-9E and R2-D2 Toys

Two years ago the must have to on Force Friday (and for pretty much the entire next year) was the Sphero BB-8 toy that you controlled on your smartphone.  With the upcoming released of The Last Jedi Sphero are back with two new toys that will be released tomorrow for "Force Friday II", smartphone controlled BB-9E and R2-D2 toys.  The new droids work just like the original BB-8.  You can check out Sphero's awesome announcement video below,

Propel Debuts New Star Wars Drones for Force Friday II

The past few years have seen the rise of drones as consumer products and now Propel is bringing drones to the Star Wars galaxy with a new line of high performance battling drones.  Available tomorrow (aka Force Friday II), there will be three new Star Wars drones available for fans to purchase and battle with.  The three drones available will be an X-Wing, Darth Vader's TIE Advanced, and a speeder bike.  Each drone will retail for $199 in the US and $229 in Canada, and are capable of traveling at up to 35mph.  The drone controllers also play the iconic Star Wars soundtracks by John Williams as well as lines from classic Star Wars characters.

'Force Friday II' Augmented Reality Scavenger Hunt Announced

September 1st, aka "Force Friday II", is already exciting because it's the day the first wave of products from Star Wars: The Last Jedi hit shelves, but now Lucasfilm has added another feature to make the entire weekend extra special.  Today they announced an augmented reality scavenger hunt that will take place in stores from September 1st-3rd using the official Star Wars app.  Throughout the weekend, fans are encouraged to find the special "Find the Force" logo on Star Wars display graphics in stores.  This will unlock holograms of iconic Star Wars characters.  There will be fifteen total holograms, with five different ones available each day of the weekend.

Recently, massive steel structures have begun to take shape over the acres of dirt that currently occupies the area where the attraction will sit. Two new First Order vehicles from Star Wars: The Last Jedi were revealed today on The Star War Show.  Hosts Andi Gutierrez and Anthony Carboni showed off the AT-M6 and First Order Dreadnought.  The AT-M6 (All Terrain Megacaliber 6) is the new First Order walker (you can actually see them in the distance in the first trailer), while the Dreadnought is a massive new warship that's 7669.72m (25,162.8ft) in length, has two orbital auto cannons, and 24 anti-aircraft cannons.  You can see the reveal in the episode below,

Jennifer Muro Talks About What to Expect From the Second Season of 'Forces of Destiny'

The release of the second season of the animated mircoseries of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny will be released in a slightly different format than the first season.  The first season was released as individual shorts on the Disney YouTube channel and were then released on Disney XD as interstitials a week later. 'Star Wars Battlefront II' Starfighter Assault Gameplay Debuted at Gamescom

Today during EA Play's presentation at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, the gameplay from the new Starfighter Assault mode from the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront II was debuted.  The mode was first teased in cinematic trailer last week, and the presentation showed off a multiplayer battle between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance over the planet Fondor.  In the battle, we also get to see several hero ships, including the Millennium Falcon, Poe Dameron's X-Wing, Slave I, and Darth Maul's Sith infiltrator.  Check out the battle below,

Report: Stephen Daldry In Talks to Direct an Obi-Wan Kenobi Stand Alone Film (Updated!)

It looks like fans hoping the next Star Wars stand alone film would center around Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi may be in luck.  The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Academy Award nominated director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) is in early talks to helm an Obi-Wan film.  THR describes the film as being "in early stages" of development with no script having been written.  It is also not known whether Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan in the prequel trilogy (and reprised the role for a vocal cameo in The Force Awakens), has been approached about starring in the film.  No release date is given.

Kathleen Kennedy Comments on George Lucas' Current Level of Involvement in 'Star Wars'

Since selling Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012, George Lucas hasn't largely stepped away from Star Wars.  He still pops up now then, visiting the set of Rogue One and at events like the world premier for The Force Awakens and the 40th anniversary panel at Star Wars Celebration, but he isn't really involved in Star Wars anymore.  That being said, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that he'll still offer little bits of advice about aspects that are important to him.

Daniel Craig Talks About His 'The Force Awakens' Cameo

Daniel Craig made news yesterday when he announced during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that he would be returning as Jame Bond in the upcoming 25th Bond movie, hitting theaters in November 2019.  But also in that interview, Craig spoke with Colbert briefly about how made a secret cameo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  Craig played the stormtrooper (playfully named JB-007 by fans) who Rey mindtricks into releasing her on Starkiller Base.  Prior to the film's release Craig denied having a role in the film, though the truth came out about a week after The Force Awakens hit theaters.
