Oscar Isaac Talks Being Slapped By Carrie Fisher In 'The Last Jedi'

By: Benjamin Hart

Over the past few days we have been inundated by a plethora of new photos and information from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, mostly thanks to the newest issue of Vanity Fair. In one snippet from the Vanity Fair piece it was revealed that one scene in particular between Carrie Fisher(Leia Organa) and Oscar Isaac(Poe Dameron) required multiple takes due to it requiring Fisher to slap Isaac.

While we still have no context for the scene, that didn't stop Oscar Isaac himself from bringing it up while talking with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show recently. While Oscar initially discussed his first time seeing Star Wars, as well an experience he had while working on The Force Awakens, Colbert inquired about working with late, great Carrie Fisher on The Last Jedi. Isaac explained that a "large amount" of his scenes are shared with the actress, who sadly passed away late last year. The slap scene apparently took 27 takes, as Oscar humorously recalls, and Carrie made every slap count. The actor still had much admiration for Fisher, describing her as the "funniest, most down to earth, real person I've eve had the opportunity to work with." You can watch the full video below:
