On This Day: April 4, 2000

By Ciaran Duggan,

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was released on VHS in North America eleven months after the film first hit cinemas on 19 May 1999.

George Lucas' first Prequel film received initial backlash in the cinema, and still does to this day, but has lessened since 1999.

The film has been re-released on DVD (2000) Blu-Ray (2011) and even in 3-D in the cinemas (2012). Take a look at the VHS opening down below:

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been released on DVD and Blu-Ray in North America and Canada today.
