On This Day: April 11, 1995

By Ciaran Duggan,

The first issue of the comic Star Wars Droids: Rebellion was published 22 years ago today.

This was the first part of a new Dark Horse comic book series which featured Star Wars legacy characters R2-D2 and C-3PO.

Take a look at the publisher's summary of the comic down below:

"Olag Greck is a con man and arch criminal, and he's hiding out exactly where you might expect: among his own, wretched kind on the smuggler planet Nar Shaddaa. But knowing where he is and actually arresting him are two completely different matters as the newly-deputised Artoo-Detoo and See-Threepio discover.

Smugglers and criminals have no affection for old droids, particularly when they're carrying badges. They're just a couple of used appliances in hot pursuit of a perp, and a world of accomplices stand in their way!"

Star Wars Droids: Rebellion is a droid-centric story arc which consisted of four issues, published monthly from April to July 1995.

The cover artist of the comic series was Kilian Plunkett, who has since been the lead character designer on Cartoon Network's Star Wars: The Clone Wars and is currently the art director on Disney XD's Star Wars Rebels.
