Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) addressed the recent rumors about him being in consideration for the role of young Han Solo in the 2018 Han Solo Star Wars: Anthology film during a recent appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show. Egerton was one of three names, the other two being Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!) and Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction) on a short list for the role that The Hollywood Reporter leaked last week.
Egerton told Ross, “I’ve heard this rumor, yes. I mean I’ve seen the stuff on the Internet, and I think any lad of my age would kill to play a part like that,” he said. “It’s very, very flattering. I’ve no idea if there’s any truth in it but I mean, Lucasfilm, Disney, if there is then you know where I am.”

Egerton gave a very diplomatic response, and it definitely seems like he knows more than he's letting on. Regardless, they do seem to be narrowing down the list of actors in consideraton. Miles Teller, who also rumored to be on the short list at one time, recently discussed his experience auditioning for the film. Of all these names we've heard have auditioned, Egerton is far and away my pick for the role. I think he has the charisma (Kingsman is basically "The Adventures of Young British Han Solo") and the right look.
The "Young Han Solo" film opens on May 25th, 2018 and is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie) with a script by Jon and Lawrence Kasdan.
