The 88th Academy Awards are right around the corner and, for the first time in a while, Star Wars will have a presence there. The Force Awakens has been nominated for five Oscars, including best original score, best film editing, best visual effects, best sound mixing and best sound editing. In addition, Rey herself, Daisy Ridley, will be one of the presenters at the ceremony. According to The Wrap, Oscar producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin have announced the third slate presenters for this year's Oscars, which includes Patricia Arquette, Eddie Redmayne, Abraham Attah, Cate Blanchett, Emily Blunt, Louis C.K., Common, Russell Crowe, Chris Evans, Jennifer Garner, Louis Gossett, Jr., Michael B. Jordan, Rachel McAdams, Dev Patel, Sarah Silverman and Sofia Vergara along with Ridley and others.
In a statement, Hill and Hudlin added:
“Through their work, these artists have shown us the unique, transformative power of cinema. We are delighted they will be joining us on the Oscars stage this year.”
The event will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywod at 7:00p.m. ET/4:00p.m. PT on February 28th and will be televised live on ABC. It will be hosted by Chris Rock.
