With less than two weeks until The Force Awakens, it can be easy to forget that there are two more Star Wars films coming out over the next two years. The first Anthology film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is hitting theatres in December 2016 and Star Wars: Episode VIII will be released May 2017 are in various stages of production. Rogue One about to wrap up filming and Episode VIII about to head into production early in the new year. While everyone is focused on The Force Awakens, our friend Jason over at MakingStarWars.net dropped some tidbits about the stormtroopers in Rogue One and Episode VIII. There's nothing to dramatic, though if you are trying to avoid all Star Wars spoilers then stop reading now. This is your SPOILER ALERT!-
Jason reports that Shadow Troopers, specifically the ones seen in the latest Battlefront game, will be making their debut in Rogue One. According to the source,
"The black Stormtroopers with the silver eyepieces are in the movie."
"it appears that the First Order stormtroopers will be making a return in Episode VIII. Early reports state that the changes are fairly small like 'the differences between the stormtroopers from Empire Strikes Back to Return of the Jedi.'"
I think it's interesting that the design will be chaning between movies, I wonder if there's a reason or they are specifically doing this as a nod to the minor design changes to the stormtroopers in the Original Trilogy. As for shadow troopers in Rogue One, that sounds really cool! I look forward to seeing them on screen in a year's time!
As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
