Disney to Showcase Upcoming 'Star Wars Land' in Rose Bowl Parade Float

By: Dominic Jones

The 127th Rose Bowl is coming up on January 1st and Disney will have a float in the famous pre-game parade.  Included in their float will be a glimpse at the upcoming Star Wars Land attractions that will be coming to Disney Parks in Florida and California.  The OC Disney Twitter, the Disney Insider, and the Theme Parks Twitter accounts tweeted some images of the float in progress.  Check them out below,
The Star Wars Land was announced back at D23 in August.  The new park will be an "in-universe" experience, meaning that every aspect of the theme park will be done as if it were a real planet in the Star Wars galaxy.  No word yet on when the parks will open, but construction is expected to being in 2016.

Star Wars has a long history with the Rose Bowl parade.  Back in 2007 George Lucas was the Grand Marshal and hundreds of stormtroopers from the fan costuming organization The 501st Legion marching in the parade.  There is a fantastic documentary about the fans who marched in the parade on the Saga Blu-ray box set that came out in 2011.
