Earlier this week, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, we learned a great deal about The Force Awakens' Vader obsessed baddie Kylo Ren. One piece of information revealed that Kylo's surname "Ren" comes from a group called the "Knights Of Ren". While we still know nothing about the organization, Indie Revolver may have given us our first look at the Knights Of Ren.
Indie Revolver has revealed several pieces of concept art which they claim were at first created for Kylo Ren but may have ended up being used for other members of the Knights Of Ren. They report:
"The pieces... are images that were created early on and I believe to be versions of Kylo Ren that were evolving to the final design that we now know. My source tells me that some of these designs could have been re-appropriated and used as the Knights of Ren. If that’s the case it could very well have been used in the scene that MSW described in their piece."
It's a well know fact that Lucasfilm rarely throws a good idea or design away. Many designers in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels and even The Force Awakens have been based on previously unused concepts. I think it's a safe bet these will show up on the big screen eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later. The Knights Of Ren are intriguing group and I hope we get to learn more about them in The Force Awakens and future films.
