By: Dominic Jones

We first heard about the new mobile game, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, coming from Electronic Arts back during E3, now the game has an official trailer.  Check it out below,

Although no release date has been set, the game's page on EA's official Star Wars website promises a  Holiday 2015 release date on iOS and Android devices.  When the game was first announced back at E3, John Salera, Executive Producer at EA Capital Games, described the game as follows,

When we set out to make STAR WARS: GALAXY OF HEROES, we wanted to tap into the fantasy of collecting characters and starfighters and then let people enjoy the fun of playing with them creatively. We’re bringing this idea to life by allowing players to take part in battles with collections of their favorite heroes, characters, and ships from across the Star Wars™ universe. From the classic trilogy and Star Wars Rebels™ and Star Wars™: The Clone Wars™ animated TV shows, to the prequels films and beyond, we’re giving players a truly extensive Star Wars experience.

Report: Leaked Video From 'The Force Awakens' Set Revealed (Updated!)

By: Benjamin Hart

Update: Unfortunately the video has been removed. We will update if and when another version appears online. In the meantime, you can seen screenshots from the footage on MakingStarWars.net via the link below.

Update #2: Replica Prop Forum has posted another version of the footage, which you can view here!

Original Story:

For well more than a year now we have gotten countless leaks from the production of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Set photos, concept art, plot points & more have surfaced in the past, but today a new leaker has taken it a step further and released a video shot on the set of The Force Awakens. Our buds at Making Star Wars acquired the footage from a YouTube video, which has since been taken down. While very shaky, the video is clearly shot in Abu Dhabi as the crew films a scene set on Jakku. It mostly shows extras in various costumes underneath tents and Stormtroopers running by firing their Blasters, but at 00:32 in the video we get a brief glimpse at John Boyega(Finn) and Daisy Ridley(Rey) as the run by amidst the filming of a scene, which may or may not be the one pictured above.

View screenshots here!

Making Star Wars adds that they heard some dialogue in that moment and believe Daisy and John may be using their native British accents in the film. Their voices could still be dubbed over in the final film though. According to MSW, the dialogue is as follows:

Rey: "Let go of me!"
Finn: "We gotta move!"

By: Benjamin Hart

Among the most anticipated toys that will be coming along with The Force Awakens are Legos! We've gotten glimpses here and there of what they'll have to offer next week on Force Friday, but all the new sets have yet to be officially revealed. Now it appears a full fledged television commercial for two of the upcoming sets has hit the web. Our friends at The Star Wars Post found the ad on the YouTube channel for Dutch retailer Bol.com. Check it out below!

Be warned, some minor SPOILERS may be included in the commercial.

Considering the amount of secrecy that has surrounding these products, along with the fact that this was most likely not supposed to be released yet, I would expect this commercial to be pulled from YouTube very soon, so enjoy it while you can!

Review: 'Star Wars Rebels' Season One Blu-Ray Box Set

By: Dominic Jones

With all the excitement about The Force Awakens, and all the hype for "Force Friday" next week, one Star Wars release seems at risk at slipping under the radar.  And that's a shame because Star Wars Rebels Season One on Blu-ray (and DVD), which hits shelves on September 1st, is a worthy pick up for any Star Wars fan.

Season one of Rebels was a strong introduction to new characters and situations that we will hopefully be following for many years to come.  The crew of the starship The Ghost provides a nice cross section of familiar, yet new,  characters and archetypes from the Star Wars galaxy.  While some found the decision to set the majority of first season on the planet Lothal tiresome, I enjoyed the way the team behind Rebels chose to start small and really focus in how the Empire impacted individuals in the galaxy.  I feel it gives characters an emotional grounding as they head out to explore more of the galaxy in season two.  The inclusion of classic characters like Yoda, Grand Moff Tarkin, and Bail Organa, helped give a sense of grandeur to events, solidifying their place as important moments in the Star Wars mythology.

The box set itself features a variation on the season one poster on the cover, and the discs feature the characters Ezra and Sabine.  While it would have been cool to see new art, it's hard to argue with the choice. The episodes themselves look great on Blu-ray.  Much like its predecessor Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the animation quality on Rebels improves as the season goes on (although not quite as drastically).

When it comes to Bonus Features there are four main offerings, "Rebels Infiltrates Star Wars Celebration," "Star Wars Rebels: The Ultimate Guide," "Rebels Season 2: A Look Ahead," and all 14 episodes of "Rebels Recon" from StarWars.com.  The bonus features are entertaining, though I wish some more about the making of Rebels had been included.  "Rebels Recon" is the only feature to give us a behind the scenes look, but that content has been available on YouTube and StarWars.com since the episodes first aired.  Nothing against "Rebels Recon"--those are still fantastic--but a more in depth featurette about the conception of the show, as well as the writing, animating, and post production would have been a nice bonus.

As for the features that are included, they're pretty fun.  The Celebration featurette is especially fun for those of us who were there, giving us a chance to relive the good times of Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, while searching for our friends and ourselves in the crowds.  (Alas, I was nowhere to be found, but SWU team members Jake and Lillian can be spotted if you know where to look).  And, if you couldn't make it to Anaheim, this feature is bound to make you want to hop on a flight to England next July for Celebration Europe 2016.

The "Ultimate Guide" featurette is a 22 minute look back at season one from the point of view of Kanan Jarrus.  Narrated by Freddie Prinze Jr, this is a great way to quickly get caught up on the major events of season one.  It feels like the sort of thing that could air on Disney XD in the lead up to season two, so don't be too surprised if we see it on the schedule this October.

The look ahead at season two provides some interesting insights into where we'll be going when season two picks up on October 14th.  The featurette begins with Executive Producer Dave Filoni addressing viewers and laying down some hints and teases for stories that will be tackled in season two.  We then see an updated version of the season two trailer which was first debuted at Celebration.  Some of the "The Siege of Lothal" content is removed in favor of new, unaired, material.

My only real complaint about the box set has to do with functionality.  If you don't choose "Play All" at the beginning, when an episode ends, instead of continuing on to the next episode or taking you back to the menu, you are forced to endure several legal warnings.  The other thing that seems odd is that "Spark of Rebellion" is split into two episodes, complete with a "To be continued" title card at the end of the first part.  There's no way to watch "Spark" as one 44-minute episode, despite the fact that it was broadcast as a single episode and also released on DVD as such earlier this year.

All in all the box set is pretty solid.  While it could have used a little more behind the scenes content and some of the functionality is odd, the episodes look fantastic and the bonus features that are included are very enjoyable.  Season one of Rebels is a great introduction to the Disney era, and continues the tradition of high quality Star Wars animation that Star Wars: The Clone Wars began.

Score: 8/10

New 'Star Wars Rebels' Season Two Clip & Premiere Date Confirmed

By: Dominic Jones

The premiere date for season two of Star Wars Rebels has finally (officially) been set!  StarWars.com announced today that season two will kick off on Wednesday October 14th at 9:30pm on Disney XD, with the episode "The Lost Commanders."  In addition, they also released this brand new clip from the episode featuring Ahsoka Tano sending the crew of The Ghost off on a mission to find her old "friend."  Check it out below,

It seems safe to assume, based on the trailers and other previews, that the friend Ahsoka is talking about in the clip is Clone Captain Rex, a fan favourite from The Clone Wars.  It was revealed back at Celebration that Rex and a few other clones managed to escape executing Order 66, although the specifics of how are still unknown.

In Star Wars Rebels Season Two, past lives will be revealed and the destiny of our heroes will be changed forever. The transformative new season resumes with Imperial oppression on Lothal growing stronger and the Rebels seeking out new allies and additional resources to sustain their fight against the evil Empire. With the help of Ahsoka Tano, the crew of the Ghost enlists some old friends: ex-clone troopers who fought in the Clone Wars. As the Rebels grow in number, so do their enemies. New Inquisitors are dispatched by Darth Vader and sent to crush any threat of rebellion. Through dangerous rescue missions, thrilling space chases, and spectacular lightsaber duels — the bond of our Rebel crew will be put to the test like never before.

For those who want to see "The Lost Commanders" a little sooner, the first two episodes of season two will be screened at New York Comic Con on October 8th.  A preview panel for Season Two will also be held at NYCC.

Report: New 'The Force Awakens' Poster Found

By: Dominic Jones

"Force Friday" is now exactly one week away, which means we are just seven days away from being even more inundated with Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens merchandise and imagery.  A new image of the heroes of the film, Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron has been spotted by the @StarWarsJunk Twitter, who claim that this is a new Hasbro Toy Poster.  Check it out below,
After yesterday's Instagram teaser for the film, it seems that imagery of Finn wielding that lightsaber is fair game.  Not that we're complaining in the slightest.  This also appears to be the same image that popped up as a wall graphic not tool long ago.

No word yet on when or how fans will be able to get their hands on this poster.

By: Dominic Jones

If you're planning on going to Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 in London, England next July and haven't already bought your tickets for all three days, you may be in trouble!  The official Star Wars Celebration Facebook Page updated fans today, letting them know that Saturday tickets for the event are sold out!  This comes exactly one month after three day passes for the event sold out
Star Wars Celebration Europe Saturday Adult Tickets are sold out. Buy Single Day Tickets here: http://bit.ly/1Vdty90 #SWCE
Posted by Star Wars Celebration on Thursday, August 27, 2015

Friday and Sunday tickets are still available for fans who want to attend.  Plus Celebration isn't like San Diego Comic Con where you can't sell your tickets if you can't go, so if you want to go for all three days and don't have your tickets yet, you might be able to get a ticket at face value (or possibly less) as we get closer to the convention.

As a long time Celebration attendee, I find this news very exciting!  Of all the Celebrations I've been to (the last four) on this year's Celebration Anaheim sold out and it only sold out the day before the con.  I love that Celebration is getting this kind of attention now as it is far and away the best convention going and I love that more people are going to get to experience that!

Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 takes place from July 15-17, 2016 at the ExCel Center in London, England.  Get your tickets (for Friday and Sunday) here!

Based on those images it would appear that this is the same trailer that leaked online a few days ago.  As for when we'll get to see it officially, that's still unknown.  With all The Force Awakens excitement today, you can see how this could be accidentally posted and why Lucasfilm may want to hold off on posting it for a few days so it doesn't get lost amidst the The Force Awakens hype.

For those who want to see the Season Two premiere a little sooner, the first two episodes will be screened at New York Comic Con on October 8th.  A preview panel for Season Two will also be held at NYCC.

Rumor: 'The Force Awakens' Star Destroyer Schematic Revealed

By: Benjamin Hart

In the second teaser trailer for The Force Awakens you most likely noticed a large wedge-shaped ship that we can assume is a new and improved Star Destroyer being used by the First Order. We don't know much beyond that, but the guys at Star Wars 7 News have got their hands on something very interesting that might shed some light on it.

Star Wars 7 News reports that they have received a photo of one of the pages in the upcoming "Star Wars: Ships Of The Galaxy" book. The page features a spread of schematics for the Star Destroyer, providing top, side and rear views of the ship. The book, which is listed on Amazon.com, is slated for release on September 4th(Force Friday) and the front cover teases a "giant foldout that reveals new ships." This could be from that foldout section:

Near the bottom you can see that the Destroyer is named "Finalizaer".

BREAKING: New 'The Force Awakens' Teaser Released Online

By: Dominic Jones

A brand new, albeit very short, teaser for Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens has been posted to the official Star Wars instagram.  The teaser features a combination of shots we've seen before and some very exciting new ones.  Check it out for yourself below,

A video posted by Star Wars (@starwars) on

What's exciting is this new teaser seems to feature about half new footage and half stuff we've seen before.  We see the shot from the Korean TV spot and the Kylo Ren in the forest shot from the first trailer again, but we also get a cool new shot of Rey and BB-8 on a green planet and a shot of Finn holding Luke's old lightsaber.  This final shot seems to be in the same location we see Kylo in, with the implication being we are about to see those two face off in a lightsaber duel.   Also, it sounds to me like we're hearing a different take of the now classic "There has been an awakening" dialogue from Andy Serkis' Supreme Leader Snoke.  Also, is that new John Williams score I hear?

I have to say, this was an exciting surprise for this Thursday!  It's exciting to finally, officially, get to see one of our heroes wielding a lightsaber on screen, as up until this point we had only seen the villain using one in the first two trailers.  Also, you have to wonder what Rey and BB-8 are looking up at (though if you've read the spoilers you may have an idea).

The character BB-8, the new droid from Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, has already reached iconic status.  Ever since he rolled across our screen in the first teaser, and especially after he rolled out on stage at Star Wars Celebration last April, fans have been wondering when we might be able to own our own BB-8.  It looks like the answer will be "Force Friday," aka September 4th when all the The Force Awakens merchandise will be made available.  The team over at Rebelscum.com got word from one of their readers that they had spotted the hotly anticipated remote control BB-8 toy at Target.   Check out the packaging below,

Report: Stormtrooper & Captain Phasma Jakks Pacific Figures Spotted

By: Benjamin Hart

The Force Awakens toys leaks keep coming! We've gotten some good looks at most of the standard action figures that will be out on Force Friday, now our first glimpse at some giant figures. The guys at The Wolfpack Podcast spotted a post by Tim M. in Star Wars Modern Figure Collectors Facebook group where he revealed a photo of two Jakks Pacific supersized figures of Captain Phasma and a First Order Stormtrooper that he found at Walmart, which you can see above. Their exact sizes are unclear, as Jakks Pacific offers several different scale figures. It is awesome to see that Captain Phasma towers over the Stormtrooper in height to match Gwendoline Christie's real life stature(she's 6' 3").

Of course, we can expect these figures, along with many more The Force Awakens toys and merchandise, to available in stores next week beginning at midnight on "Force Friday", September 4th!

EA Previews 'The Battle of Jakku' Star Wars Battlefront DLC

By: Dominic Jones

The new Star Wars Battlefront video game isn't even out and already the hype is building for the first DLC.   It's not hard to understand why, since the first DLC is "The Battle of Jakku" and will tie in directly with Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens.  Today EA posted two pieces of concept art from the game (one had been previously shown at the D23 Expo earlier this month) and some early discussion about the added content.  EA describes the DLC as,

Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku shown in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Check out the "The Battle of Jakku" concept art below,

DICE Concept Artist Anton Grandert also spoke about the DLC saying,

"There’s a David and Goliath theme to this.  The epic, huge super structures of the Star Destroyers contrast against the tiny but brave Rebel soldiers fighting the Imperial forces.

We wanted to portray a battle completely surrounding you, in every direction. Debris is falling from the sky, telling the story of battles above. On the surface of the planet you can see ground troops as well as X-wings, all taking part of the fight"

"The Battle of Jakku" will be available for download for free to the public on December 7th, but anyone who pre-orders Star Wars Battlefront will get it a week early on December 1st.  Star Wars Battlefront hits shelves on November 17th.

The new issue of Empire magazine, featuring two The Force Awakens covers, hits shelves and to promote its release Empire has released two new behind the scenes pictures from Episode VII online.  The images both feature John Boyega, who plays Finn in the film, shooting scenes in a desert environment for the planet Jakku.  Check them out below,

It seems that the first image of Boyega is from the Abu Dhabi shoot whereas the second one, where he's in his stormtrooper armor, appears to on a backlot at Pinewood Studios in London.  (Otherwise JJ Abrams would be roasting in that jacket!)  Empire also revealed a third, subscriber exclusive, cover for the issue, this one featuring BB-8.  Check it out below,

The new issue of Empire should be on newsstands and in mailboxes today, and will feature new details on the plot of The Force Awakens.

New 'The Force Awakens' Shirt Found At Walmart

By Chris Seekell

Our friend Kaeli Cheyenne from The Geek Breakdown was fortunate enough to spot a piece of merchandise from Star Wars: The Force Awakens at her local Walmart. Check out this awesome BB-8 t-shirt that most likely was accidentally put on shelves before Force Friday.

While shopping at Walmart today I stumbled upon an incredible accident; an Episode VII shirt. The racks were stocked with amazing products, and a large quantity of these BB8 themed beauties. When I went to ring it up, the register stated that it was not allowed to be sold, however the cashier allowed me to purchase it, regardless.

Definitely keep a look out for more The Force Awakens merch hitting the shelves early before the September 4th official street date!

New Image of Rey, Finn and Poe Uncovered

By: Dominic Jones

A new look at the "new big three" from Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens made it's way online today.  The Twitter account Star Search! posted an image of an upcoming The Force Awakens wall graphic, featuring the stars of the new film.  From left to right you can see Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).  Check it out below,

What's extra cool is this is our first actual picture of Finn holding Luke's (and Anakin's) old lightsaber.  We had previously seen this in the Drew Struzan poster that was created for D23.  It looks like that image of Finn with the blue lightsaber will be seen more and more as we get closer to December 18th.

If you're hoping to purchase the Wall Graphic, our pal Jason at MakingStarWars.net has heard that it's from Target, but is not 100% sure.

Rumor: More 'Rogue One' Set Photos

By: Benjamin Hart

Back at Disney's D23 Expo the cast of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was officially revealed, and along with it, a confirmation that filming is in full swing. And just like with it's predecessor The Force Awakens, we're already being treated to some leaks from the set. Trevor Monk has shared some new photos of the Cardington Sheds in Bedfordshire, England where he believes filming for Rogue One is taking place. Monk has been keeping an eye on the Sheds for some time now, you may remember some photos he revealed last month from the same location. He has been documenting the activity at the Carrington sheds extensively on his Facebook and Twitter.

Of course, if you don't want to know anything about Rogue One, you may want to stop reading now. Some minor SPOILERS will follow.

In the first few photos(above and below) you can see a stone facade has been built on the front of one of the sheds, which looks similar to the stone structure that the cast of Rogue One appear to be inside in the official photo that was released. To the left of the stone work you will notice something covered in a tarp. If you look closely, that object appears to be the landing craft set that we saw in another batch of set photos that leaked.

Compare those to this:

Additionally, at some point a few other set pieces were spotted outside the sheds which were shaped like a classic Star Wars ship. This could be our confirmation(as if there was any doubt) that X-Wings will be making an appearance in Rogue One:

This appears to be a look at the opposite side of some flat, wooden cut outs of X-Wings rather than actual life sized ships. These could be used in the background of a shot to portray actual X-Wings. We saw similar techniques being used on the Greenham Commons set for The Force Awakens.

Putting all the pieces together, I think we're now safe to say that the Carington Sheds are a filming location for Rogue One. Still, we're filing this one as a "rumor" until we get an official reveal from Lucasfilm.
