SportsNation Star Wars Halloween Special Announced

By: Dominic Jones

ESPN 2 has announced that on October 30th at 7:30pm there will be a Star Wars themed episode of SportsNation.  The show will feature many Star Wars characters including Han Solo, Boba Fett, Yoda, Darth Vader, R2D2, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and Chopper.  The set of SportsNation is also being transformed to look like the Millennium Falcon.  As if that wasn't enough, the show will also feature an exclusive clip from an upcoming episode of Star Wars Rebels.  And if you're wondering if there will be any actual sports on a sports show, don't worry there will be Star Wars themed highlight packages like "Best Jedi Mind Trick" and "Most Unstoppable Skywalkers."

The Hollywood Reporter also exclusively revealed the opening of the episode featuring SportsNation hosts Michelle Beadle, Max Kellerman and Marcellus Wiley.  Check it out below,

This is not the first cross over between SportNation and Star Wars.  Max Kellerman did a special interview with Yoda to promote "This Is Madness 2014."  I have to say this was an interesting brand synergy for Disney (who owns both Lucasfilm and ESPN).  But as a fan of both Star Wars and sports, I love the idea of getting a bit of both in one special, even if it's just once a year.
