Rumor: Obi-Wan Kenobi Stand Alone Film in the Works

Our friends over at MakingStarWars.net are hearing from one of their sources that the wise Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi will be getting his own stand alone film!

According to the source,
"I’ve heard from quite a few people now that an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie is in the works. For the spin-off movies they were initially going to stay away from any Jedi or Sith characters. But I’m hearing now that because of the popularity of Obi-Wan (fans recently voting for him on the official website etc) that an art team is now working with a writer on concepts for an Obi-Wan movie."

An Obi-Wan Kenobi film makes a tonne of sense!  Ewan McGregor, who played Kenobi in the prequels, still very much looks the part and has said he'd be open to returning to the part.  Kenobi is the one character to transcend every major Star Wars canon project so far (all six films, The Clone Wars, and Rebels).

What else is interesting is the "fans voting for him on the official website" line.  It is of course referring to 'This Is Madness' 2014 where Obi-Wan emerged victorious, defeating Darth Vader in the final round (and Han Solo in the 'Light Side' finals). The idea that 'This Is Madness' could have any impact on future projects from Lucasfilm makes me want to campaign even harder for Ahsoka Tano in 2015

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
