Principal Photography for Star Wars Episode VII is(reportedly) now underway! Two of the newly revealed cast members from the film are speaking out about their roles. First off, motion capture legend Andy Serkis spoke with the BBC and said he is "extremely excited" about his upcoming role in Episode VII:
The actor, best known for playing Gollum in the Lord of the Rings franchise, says he "can't quite believe" he has a role in the film.
"It's a wonderful, wonderful cast, really beautiful director, great atmosphere... Star Wars was my childhood, so it's fantastic," he said.
The 50-year-old also said security around the script is "very tight".
He added: "You can't wander off with it."
Also going on record recently is Oscar Isaac, who spoke with Empire about his casting and his life long Star Wars fandom:
"I could not be more excited to be a part of the Star Wars saga. It still seems hard to believe. Star Wars is a huge part of my family. Collecting toys, throwing themed parties. We had a big one for Return of the Jedi. I came as a gonk droid.”
He also had nothing but positive things to say about Director J.J Abrams:
“There are some big movies that are quite good. And interesting, and have interesting stories. I think one person in particular is JJ, JJ Abrams. He makes really good stories. He puts a lot of heart into them. They don’t feel like they’re just exploitive.”
He also told Exposé Entertainment that his family had a "nerd-gasm" after hearing he'd got the role in Episode VII, and he also mentioned that they are set to begin shooting at the end of this month.
Serkis and Isaac will star alongside their new co-stars Adam Driver, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson and Max Von Sydow and returning favorites Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. Star Wars Episode VII hits theaters next year on December 18th!
